First Presbyterian Church is committed to helping people who come to our community from other countries as immigrants or visitors. We see it as a way to practice hospitality and  serve others, just as Christ instructed.

 

 

The ELL Program at First Presbyterian Church collaborates with other organizations that are also concerned with the language needs of immigrants and international visitors.

Our English Language Learner program helps adults feel more confident speaking English.  Learners can practice conversation and build friendships in a warm and welcoming place.

• Our classes are for adults (18 and older) only.
• Our classes help students practice English and learn about life in the United States.
• Classes meet “in person” in the Education Building at First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Church St, Champaign.
• Class time is 9:15-11:00 am Monday through Thursday. Students must attend at least twice per week. 
• We do not offer educational credits.
• Childcare is not available. On Wednesdays in fall and spring, we offer a class for moms and their preschool children. Moms stay with their children and children may only attend on this day. This class is a great way to meet other mothers and their children.
