A weekday e-mailer from
Matt Matthews

 Friends,

Ponder these words from Methodist minister Jan Richardson:

 Pray for protection.
Ask for guidance.
Offer gladness
for the gifts that come,
and then
let them go.
Do not expect
to return
by the same road.
Home is always
by another way,
and you will know it
not by the light
that waits for you
but by the star
that blazes inside you, telling you
where you are
is holy
and you are welcome
here.

The “star” (an epiphany metaphor for that which guides us) always, always, always leads me to worship. Worship is always for me a watering hole, and stopping off place, the promised pasture in which I find rest, the pew on which I doze, dream, rest, listen, sing, pray, shed distraction, and tune my heart to God’s better song.

See at worship on this Sunday.

PEACE and much love,

The weekend is the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. His life and legacy of justice, love, and non-violence bouy us all. I’m glad, humbled, proud, and thank God for Brother Martin.
