April showers bring May flowers and the May issue of news from First Presbyterian Church in Champaign. Click May 2024 for the May issue. This issue includes information on…
- Spring Music Sunday, May 5, 9 am. Our Chancel and Bell Choirs will be featured. During worship, we will pray for our sister church in Luyano, Havana Cuba.
- Take mom out to brunch on Mother’s Day. We will serve a light brunch immediately following worship on Sunday, May 12. Special gift for mom that day!
- Pentecost Offering on May 19 will support DREAAM.
- Presbyterian Women will host their Spring Gathering on Thursday, May 30, at 12 noon. ALL are invited.
- All graduates will be recognized on Sunday, June 9. Get information to Pat Tarr on a graduate in your family.
- Volunteers needed to help provide lunch for the Habitat Build participants in June. Check out page 6 of this issue to see how you can sign up.

- Jean Rene Balekita will be our guest musician on Sunday, April 7, at the 9 am worship. Immediately following he will share his faith story at the Adult Ed class “Faith in the Real World.”
- Sunday, April 14, continues our 2nd Sunday Brunch.
- The Installation Service for Associate Pastor of Discipleship Joe Lundy will be held Sunday afternoon, April 14, at 3 pm. A reception will follow.
- Adopt-a-Highway street cleanup is Saturday, April 20, starting around 8:30 am.
- Earth Day will be celebrated Sunday, April 21. Cyndy Ash, minister and farmer, will be our guest speaker.
April not only brings Spring showers but lots of opportunities at the church. Hope you can join us!

- Easter is early this year. We invite you to join us whether in-person or online for our Holy Week/Easter Sunday services.
- You can volunteer to help with this year’s Illinois Marathon either through the church or with DREAAM. Details included in this issue.
- The One Great Hour of Sharing offering is the single largest way that Presbyterians join together to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need and around the world. The offering will be received on Palm Sunday and Easter morning.
- The winning recipes from this year’s Chili and Dessert Cook-off are included in this issue.

- The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will be held Sunday, February 11, immediately following worship. Brunch will follow the meeting.
- February means the beginning of Lent. An Ash Wednesday Service will be held Wednesday, February 14, at 4 pm in Westminster Hall.
- A Chili Cook-Off is planned for Sunday, February 25, at 3 pm in Centennial Hall. Entry forms can be found online.
- The 2024 Small Group brochure is now available. Sign up for a small group this Spring!
